Changes in the situation around the blockade of the Serbian enclaves of Kosovo are possible by winter, when, after elections to the local “parliament” and the formation of a new “government”, the Albanian separatists will be able to reconsider their decision as a result of US pressure.

This forecast was made by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in an interview with the Voice of America radio station, commenting on the results of negotiations with US Vice President Michael Pompeo.

“I received the answer that, first of all, America insists on the abolition of tariffs from the moment they were introduced (the 100 percent levy imposed by Kosovo in December on products imported from Serbia), because this is not only an illegal measure, but also contrary to international law , civilizational norms and what America rests on, namely the free market, the free movement of goods, capital, services, on which the modern world stands. Can America put more pressure on them - I am convinced that it can. Will this be the case? I think everyone is now waiting for the announcement of the elections in Pristina and their end. There is a situation where there are four political factions, each of them has a share of about twenty percent, so it is difficult to predict the outcome and how things will go during the campaign. And then you can apply pressure to start a dialogue.

It can be expected that if elections are held on October 6, the Pristina government will most likely be formed in December, and then we should expect greater pressure to initiate a substantive dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. On behalf of the Serbian side, I stated that we are ready to continue conversations as soon as the duties are lifted,” Vucic said.

At the same time, he admitted that there is no hope that the United States will abandon its support for Kosovo, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“They recognized the independence of Kosovo, this is their policy, and this will not change. What we want is to fight for our interests to get the maximum we can for our people in Kosovo and Metohija, and the maximum we can for Serbia. This is something that people need to understand. We are walking on the edge of a knife, the frames of which are terribly small, fragile, thin, and we are trying our best to extract the maximum for the country,” Vucic said.

“We have things that we cannot come to terms with, and within the current framework we are doing everything we can... We have a difficult situation - it will not be easier in the future, on the contrary,” the Serbian president emphasized.
