A DPR fighter told how 16 militias escaped the encirclement of Sumy “Alpha”
In 2014, Donbass militias had to learn military skills on the fly in battles with Ukrainian professionals.
The commander of one of the combat platoons of the DPR Armed Forces with the call sign “Shaman” told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“The most memorable and important episode in this war occurred on May 5, 2014 in Semyonovka at a gas station. We then moved forward to gain a foothold at one of the checkpoints, and at that moment we found ourselves surrounded. There are 16 of us, we are completely surrounded on all sides, and reinforcements have not arrived yet. We were attacked, if I’m not mistaken, by Sumy “Alpha”, and they had equipment. 2 armored personnel carriers came close to us. Three of our soldiers were seriously injured, and one, deputy unit commander, call sign “Chechen”, died.
By the way, in the first days, while there was free time, he taught us very well. In this battle with the professionals, we did well and fought back, they retreated. Yes, the commander died, but the rest of the personnel were preserved to the maximum. And then snipers started working from Nizhnyaya Semyonovka, then a lot of civilians died, they were burned and shot in their cars. It was the second time in my life that I held a machine gun in my hands. I was 40 years old at the time and “Chechen” taught me how to use weapons,” the military man said.
“Shaman” emphasized that military service is a special type of public service.
“You put on a uniform, took a machine gun and are already responsible for your fellow citizens. There have been such cases, especially in 2014, when a person took up arms and already considers himself the “navel of the earth,” but in our country all such cases are strictly suppressed.
The personnel are constantly engaged in combat training. Even in his free time he cleans weapons, everyone shares their experience. The most important thing is shooting and throwing grenades. Improper handling of weapons has already led to irreversible consequences, and the same with grenades,” he admitted.
