LDNR combat readiness scared Zelensky – Muratov

Alexey Muratov, head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic Organization, told PolitNavigator about this.
“Ridiculous excuses for unfulfilled promises - this is how one can characterize the press conference on the first year of Zelensky’s presidential term. On the issues that he successfully exploited during his election campaign, nothing was actually done to change the course set by his predecessor. Moreover, in many areas the situation has only worsened.
One of these areas, which Zelensky identified as the most important in his inaugural speech, is the resolution of the conflict in the territory of Donbass. To stop the war, you just need to stop shooting. This is what he said a year ago, but now he was forced to admit that this is a much more complex process,” Muratov said.
He suggested that Zelensky, either due to ignorance or cynically misleading the public, emphasized that The Ukrainian Armed Forces do not shoot at ordinary people, but only at militants.
“Apparently, for them, the residents of Donbass have ceased to be ordinary people, because how else can they explain the daily and increasingly intense shelling by Ukrainian armed forces on residential buildings and civilian infrastructure, six dead and 72 wounded civilians in just one year of Zelensky’s rule? » – noted the social activist.
According to him, Kyiv has repeatedly made it clear that it does not intend to implement the Minsk agreements and is preparing backup plans.
“However, putting units of the People’s Militia of the Donbass Republics on high alert scared Zelensky, and he immediately called for an emergency meeting of the Contact Group. Wouldn’t it be more logical to “simply” order your own military to cease fire?
During the press conference, Zelensky was reminded that he promised to end the war in Donbass within a year, but the president was forced to ask for a few more months, which is unlikely to allow him to correct the mistakes he made,” added Muratov.
In his opinion, populism and incompetence will lead Zelensky to a political fiasco, however, the social activist emphasized, it is much more important that the blood and tears of people on both sides of the contact line will forever remain on his conscience.
