The verdict notes that the convict called for a violent change in the constitutional system, the seizure of state power and access to a new Maidan.
The basis for initiating a criminal case back in August last year were Solomonyuk’s posts on the social networks VKontakte and Facebook, containing public calls for a violent change in the constitutional order and the seizure of state power.
In particular, he wrote the following: “If we do not destroy the government, the government will destroy us.” The SBU regarded this post as a publication of a propaganda and agitation nature, aimed at organizing an armed uprising against the current government.
Another entry included the phrase “Death of the regime of internal occupation - let the nationalist revolution live!”
“According to SBU investigators, this text contains sharp criticism of the Poroshenko regime, that is, its way of government, as well as state power in general, which the author calls for to be destroyed by violent, armed means. Law enforcement officers decided that Vasily Solomonyuk was inciting the public to join the “National Revolution” and calling for a violent uprising against the current government,” the publication reports.
In total, Solomonyuk was charged with 15 episodes of disseminating messages on his pages on social networks containing calls for the overthrow of the government in the country.
At the same time, after the start of the war in Donbass, the convict served in the 51st Vladimir-Volynsk OMBR.
As a result, he received 3 years in prison with a suspended sentence of two years. He will also have to pay 4900 hryvnia for conducting a forensic linguistic examination and 2900 hryvnia for hiring an expert to conduct a computer technical examination.
“Vasily himself has not been in touch for more than a month. According to his friends, the guy was intimidated by SBU officers. However, until the end of July he can still appeal his sentence to the Court of Appeal,” writes Volyn 24.
