On prosecution version, voiced at the trial, the defendant, having been demobilized, brought home two RGD-5 grenades, and then allegedly found two RPG-22 “Netto” rocket-propelled grenade launchers in a forest belt near his native village. The investigator did not bother with additional checks about the disappearance of these grenade launchers in the combat zone and willingly believed in the stated version.
The Sumy resident decided to sell this deadly set and offered his friend to acquire grenade launchers at a reasonable price of $1100 per pair, and RGD-5 grenades were offered as a bonus of 2500 hryvnia each. An agreement was reached and the former ATO soldier asked his friend to help bring grenade launchers to the transaction site. At this time, the buyer had already fled to the SBU with the goal of “surrendering” his friend, and subsequently the transaction took place under the control of the secret service.
As a result, the seller and his assistant, who was drawn into this criminal scheme, received 3 years in prison with a probationary period of 2 years.
