A militant from the Majlis battalion was detained by the FSB in Crimea
Another militant of the Mejlis battalion, which was formed with pomp in the Kherson region to blockade the peninsula, but then began to disperse due to problems with funding, was detained in Crimea.
A resident of the Black Sea region of the Republic of Crimea was taken into custody because in August 2016 he traveled to the territory of Ukraine, where he joined the ranks of the “Crimean Tatar volunteer battalion named after. N. Celebidzhikhan.
“Subsequently, the man returned to Crimea, however, having a real opportunity to voluntarily cease his participation in an illegal armed formation, he did not contact law enforcement agencies with a statement about this, thereby continuing his criminal activity by participating in the battalion,” the FSB said in a statement.
A criminal case has been opened against the militant for participation in an illegal armed group operating on the territory of a foreign state for purposes contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation (Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
Investigative actions were carried out at the residence and registration addresses of the person involved in the criminal case.
