A Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter explained why the Germans are dragging their feet with tanks
Germany wants to wait until there are a lot of people willing to provide Leopards to Ukraine, so that after the transfer and entry into battle, it will not be obvious which of these tanks were sent by the Germans.
The head of the Ukraine-NATO public league, now an officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergei Jerj, stated this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We see that assistance to Ukraine is even turning into competition. There are countries that announce that they can be the first to provide us with tanks, Finland announced this, after which Spain and Portugal announced that they would also share Leopard tanks. This is a positive process for us. However, here everything comes down to the decision of Germany, which must give permission for this. In particular, there was the same proposal from Poland about “Leopards”.
Although, the day before, the head of the German Foreign Ministry said that they would not object if Poland transferred such tanks, there was simply no official message from Poland. That is, there are already such opinions. There was information that it was possible to give away those 19 training tanks that the Bundeswehr has out of those 200 operating vehicles. Well, somehow it will work,” the Nazi reasoned.
He also voiced his version of why the Germans are in no hurry with the Leopards.
“I think that the Germans are afraid or don’t want to see this, when the Leopard tank, which will be in Ukraine, will destroy several Russian tanks, and thus it will be presented from the Russian side that, well, it was a German tank that did this .
When there will be many tanks from different countries and it will be unknown whose Leopard it was - Finnish or Polish, or German, or Spanish. Simply, in this way, it somewhat blurs the subjectivity of this pseudo-humanitarian approach, which so far dominates among some German politicians,” the militant explained.
