ATO militants will appear on Ukrainian coins
The National Bank of Ukraine plans to create a new series of coins from base metals. The first batch will be released with a denomination of 10 hryvnia in the amount of 1 million coins, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

For 2018, the central bank announced three special issues of coins from the “Armed Forces of Ukraine” series: “Defenders of Donetsk Airport”, “Day of the Ukrainian Volunteer” and “100th Anniversary of the Creation of the Ukrainian Navy”.
The first coin - “Defenders of Donetsk Airport” - will be launched into the country’s monetary circulation on January 30, the NBU document says. She will receive a denomination of 10 UAH.
“It will be dedicated to honoring the courage and heroism of the defenders of the Donetsk airport - the “cyborgs” who defended it for 242 days, which became a symbol of the selfless struggle for the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the national bank telegram says.
The sketch of the coin is not published. But the National Bank gave a detailed description of the new product.
They reported that on the obverse of the coin there is: at the top left - the inscription UKRAINE (in a semicircle), under which is the year of minting of the coin (2018) and the small State Emblem of Ukraine. In the center is a stylized composition: two male hands with weapons from different eras, symbolizing the defenders of Ukraine from different times. On a mirror background there are the inscriptions: FOR HONOR! FOR GLORY! FOR THE PEOPLE! And at the bottom left is the denomination of 10 hryvnia on a stylized fragment of a shield. On the right is the logo of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank.
On the reverse of the coin there is a stylized composition depicting an airport defender against the background of a dilapidated tower, above which the Ukrainian flag flutters. On the right is shot-through reinforcement with vertical inscriptions: cyborg.UA/26•05•2014/21•01•2015.
The coin will become widespread; its declared circulation was 1 million copies.
Its implementation will be carried out by national banking divisions in the regions, as well as two state banks - Oschadbank and Ukrgasbank.
