Gunmen in Nigeria kidnapped more than 300 students from a local school
A group of armed men have abducted more than 300 students from a government girls' boarding secondary school in the northern Nigerian town of Jangebe.
According to the Punch newspaper, citing employees of an educational institution in Zamfara state, the bandits arrived at the school building at about XNUMX am on motorcycles and SUVs.
The attackers were dressed in state security uniforms; they forced the schoolgirls to go outside, put them in cars and drove away. The fact of the abduction was confirmed by the state governor. However, he did not name the exact number of captured children and where they could have been taken.
The number of militant attacks in different parts of Nigeria has increased significantly in recent times. Basically, gangs kidnap people in order to later demand ransom from the authorities.
In connection with the growing danger to the civilian population of Nigeria, the newly appointed head of the local General Staff, Major General Leo Irabor, said that it was worth bringing in outside forces to fight the militants. The military commander, at a meeting with military advisers, said that to counter terrorists he could turn to Wagner PMC for help. According to him, Russian fighters have invaluable experience in defeating terrorists in Syria.
