The relevant committee of the Ukrainian parliament is not passing the bill on volunteers. The former commander of the “Aidar” battalion, people’s deputy Sergei Melnichuk stated this during today’s meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.

“We keep talking about volunteers, but the law on volunteers [is] in one of the committees, and its chairman and his guardsmen simply do not pass [the document]. I want to tell you about today's date. Today, three years have passed since the presidential elections took place. Today is three years since the “Aidar” battalion first detained 14 prisoners led by a Moscow priest, who, with weapons in his hands, destroyed areas in the Lugansk region. But half of those volunteers who took part in that operation are no longer alive,” Melnichuk said.
