Bogdan Bezpalko: Ukraine is de facto preparing to withdraw from the Minsk agreements
Ukraine is preparing a law legalizing the division of Donbass residents into several classes.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, said Bogdan Bezpalko, a member of the Council on Interethnic Relations under the President of the Russian Federation, assessing the bill “On the fundamentals of state policy in the transition period” submitted to the Rada, according to which Russia is declared “a party to the conflict in Donbass.”
“This, of course, is Ukraine’s withdrawal from the Minsk agreements, but the withdrawal is de facto, not de jure. That is, Kyiv says: yes, our new law on the “transition period” completely contradicts the Minsk agreements, but we are not officially withdrawing from them, so we cannot be accused of provoking a war. On the other hand, of course, this is a law that makes it legal to divide people in the Donbass into several classes, introduce punitive squads and other repressions - they have a rich fantasy in this regard,” Bezpalko told Komsomolskaya Pravda.
He believes that a foreign policy order has been received for this kind of bill.
“Because Ukraine does not represent anything powerful and independent, it does not work in its own interests, it works exclusively in the interests of the United States and Britain. Why leave the Minsk agreements, why adopt this stupid law on the “transition period”? If Zelensky now simply sends troops to Donbass, he will appear to the whole world as an aggressor. And so he will say: well, what’s wrong, we have developed a law to liberate our territories, which even Russia recognizes as special regions of Ukraine in the Minsk agreements,” explains the expert.
