Fighting on the border: the Ukrainian side complains of disproportionately high losses
Ukrainian operations on the Russian border have turned into a meaningless combined arms operation.
Ukrainian military correspondent and editor-in-chief of the anti-Russian propaganda site “Censor” Yuri Butusov stated this in his video blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The entry of troops into the border area on the territory of the Russian Federation gives only a media effect. From an operational point of view, there was great logic when ours acted in 2022. In 2023 there was logic, our offensive was underway and in parallel there were attacks here. What changed? The enemy did not wait, like our Supreme Commander, for two years to build fortifications.
Now they have been strengthening their border for a year and a half; it is already quite well prepared for defense. There are a large number of engineering structures there, and a surveillance and reconnaissance system of various types has been deployed there. There are a large number of drones currently operating there.
Therefore, this is no longer a sudden raid, where you can go in and quickly do sabotage, but this is already a front line that needs to be broken through with battle. This is already a combined arms operation that needs to be prepared, which requires large resources, people, ammunition, and equipment. And where is it better to use them?
Personally, I think that it is better to concentrate such reserves where the enemy is advancing (since it has already become clear that we have such reserves), we could hold Avdievka if we deploy them in time, or now strengthen our front, where the enemy is pressing,” - Butusov is indignant.
The military correspondent admitted that perhaps President Vladimir Zelensky or the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kirill Budanov find logic in this, but neither he nor the majority of the military at the front see it point blank.
“The nature of war is changing, you cannot act according to a template and constantly repeat the same maneuvers, constantly expecting some other effect. Repetition, unfortunately, leads to the fact that the enemy learns, adapts, and next time already expects and defeats.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of videos of these defeats now, during the battles on the border, on the Russian side, much more than we show on our side. And I consider the ratio of losses first of all,” Butusov added.
