Berkut fighters in Ukraine are waiting for the moment and secretly celebrating February 23
Many Ukrainian military and law enforcement officers, despite the government ban, continue to secretly celebrate Defender of the Fatherland Day on February 23.
The former commander of the Crimean Berkut, Yuri Abisov, stated this on the First Crimean TV channel, citing data received from former colleagues who remained in Ukraine.

“They celebrate. They notice but just don't show it. In location, everywhere they always celebrated, even when it was forbidden. How can this be undone?” – said Abisov.
He also emphasized that, despite the official disbandment of the structure, many of the Berkut fighters, hated by the Maidan activists, are still in service.
“The most important thing... Avakov signed an order that there is no Berkut in Ukraine - thank God, fate decreed it so - both the personnel and everything are in order. He performs his service at a new level, more prepared and comfortable. These people who are ruining all this, when they are scared, they still continue to shout: “Berkut, leave.” There, in Kyiv,” Abisov said.
