Berkut fighters pose a mortal threat to Maidan protesters in Kyiv
Berkut fighters who were exchanged to Donbass and have already returned to Ukraine, who have declared their readiness to prove their innocence in court, pose an extreme danger to the nationalist regime that seized power in Kyiv in 2014.
Political scientist Olesya Yakhno admitted this on the Pryamoy TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Russian strategy is to pull Ukraine out of the international format and draw it into a bilateral negotiation process. And all these statements that the ambassadors can return, that the ex-Berkut members are going to return to Kyiv and prove that the Maidan was a coup d’etat, this is all aimed at ensuring that Ukraine basically gives up its basic positions.
If Ukraine agrees that the Maidan was a coup d’etat, this means that the reason for the war and annexation is not that there was a special operation in Crimea, but there was Russian aggression in Donbass, but it is that, it turns out, Kyiv, Ukraine , it’s her own fault, because we had a coup d’etat here, and Crimea and Donbass reacted like that. I believe that this is exactly what Russia is striving for,” Yakhno said.
In her opinion, Moscow has several scenarios: “And gradually, with some economic projects, they will begin to draw Ukraine into this bilateral format, maybe it will be Ermak-Kozak, maybe at some other level, solving problems, sanctions and isolation, rather than resolving issues regarding Donbass. Russia has options. You can either impose your conditions on Donbass on Ukraine. If Ukraine does not agree, there will be a frozen conflict, this does not matter. Russia wants to get out of sanctions and impose this new normalization in its version,” Yakhno laments.
