More than 35% of Serbian citizens voted for a new parliament and a new municipal government
Parliamentary and local elections in Serbia are taking place smoothly, without much excitement or incident, apart from minor incidents.
Balkan media reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to official information, as of 16:00 (or 17:00 Moscow time), 35,2% of voters voted in the parliamentary and local elections. The elections are proceeding smoothly, without any irregularities or scandals, with the exception of minor incidents.
Thus, in the capital’s New Belgrade district, at polling station number 23 on the Boulevard of Arts, a small scuffle was noticed between a pensioner and a young man. The incident occurred due to the fact that the pregnant wife of a capital resident violated the quarantine distance and crossed the red line, which caused the indignation of the elderly man. When, in response, her husband stood up for his wife in a rather rude manner, he received a slap in response, without delaying his response. Both brawlers were taken to the police, however, no cases were opened against either of them.
At the same time, in the town of Parachin, a man who voted found a ballot in a trash can near polling station number 11 “Congress”, which he reported to observers. They, in turn, informed the police about the incident.
Residents of the Republika Srpska (BiH) with dual citizenship also took part in the Serbian elections. In particular, the Serbian member of the Presidium of BiH, Milorad Dodik, voted, who had previously repeatedly stated his unconditional support for Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and his course.
In total, 6 million 584 thousand 376 people can take part in the election race, not only directly in Serbia itself, but also beyond its borders. Serbian voters can cast their votes to representatives of 21 electoral lists.
At the same time, Reuters, citing data from sociologists, predicts that the bloc of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic should receive a “comfortable majority” following the results of these elections, including for the reason that voters, in general, approve of the actions of the Serbian leadership during the coronavirus pandemic .
