Hungary has launched extraordinary activity in Transcarpathia – Budapest’s actions threaten to tear the region away from Ukraine, writes the Kiev newspaper Den, edited by Larisa Ivshina, the wife of ex-head of the SBU Yevgeny Marchuk.

Hungary constantly “feeds” Ukrainian officials, teachers, and public figures in Transcarpathia, buying their loyalty. More than half of Transcarpathian deputies of all levels have Hungarian passports. So what country do they serve?
As a local teacher explained to The X-Files journalists: “Only an idiot here wouldn’t take a Hungarian passport.”
For over 20 years, the central government has most criminally turned a blind eye to the processes threatening Ukraine. If this government allows anyone in the regions to ignore the laws of the country, it stimulates separatism and anti-state activities, turning into an accomplice in the destruction of Ukraine,” the newspaper writes.
