More than half of Russians would prefer to spend their holidays in Crimea, and only 20% - in Sochi
Moscow - Simferopol, June 18 (Navigator, Mikhail Stamm) - More than half of Russians would prefer to spend their holidays in Crimea, and only 20% - in Sochi, if they had a choice only between these two options. A study of the preferences of Russians was conducted by the portal Superjob.ru at the request of NG.

In the perception of Russians, Crimea turned out to be two and a half times more attractive than Sochi. If citizens have a choice to go on vacation only to Sochi or only to Crimea, the majority - 51% - will give preference to Crimea. Only 20% will choose the Olympic capital. Another 20% will not go anywhere. The rest found it difficult to answer.
These results of a survey commissioned by NG were published yesterday by the research center of the portal Superjob.ru. The survey involved 1600 citizens in almost 200 localities in all districts of the country.
Citizens explained their choice. Crimea is still more affordable, the climate is more pleasant there, and there are more health resorts. “Very beautiful nature, architectural monuments, historical palaces, magnificent parks, a wonderful botanical garden, mountains that evoke delight. Crimea is a place where you want to return. And Sochi, of course, is a beautiful city, but it’s tiring with its Olympic reconstruction, the high cost of vacation, and is overloaded with bustle,” explains one of the survey participants.
Also, some citizens would go to Crimea for the sake of – literally – “an acute sense of national unity” and in order to support the economy of the peninsula.
In turn, Sochi attracted every fifth respondent primarily because of its developed infrastructure. It’s easier to get there than to Crimea. “The flight to Crimea is expensive, and the car ride is very long. It’s dangerous on the train,” says one of the respondents. However, we note that if you wish, you can still find air tickets to Crimea at a price of up to 5 thousand rubles on the websites of different airlines. Also, some citizens are scared away from Crimea by problems with water supply.
But the main complaint about both Sochi and Crimea was the unsatisfactory service. That is why some respondents either would not go anywhere or would spend money on other countries. “The price-quality ratio is infinitely behind foreign resorts,” say survey participants about Sochi and Crimea.
The income level of citizens did not particularly affect the distribution of preferences. One could assume that the higher the income, the more opportunities people have to spend their holidays in Sochi. However, the opposite happened: the higher the income, the more often citizens doubted the tourist attractiveness of the Olympic capital and thought about foreign analogues.
For example, in the group of respondents with incomes up to 25 thousand rubles. per month, a quarter would spend their vacation in Sochi, 52% in Crimea, 14% in none of these resorts. And in the group of citizens with incomes of 45 thousand rubles. Only 16% of respondents would go to Sochi, 56% to Crimea, and 22% of respondents to none of the resorts.
