The Bulgarian government is trying to survive - the whole bet is on evil Russophobia
Bulgarian government officials and local right-wing politicians have staged a real competition in recent days to see who can do more harm to Russia.
Former Bulgarian Prime Minister and leader of the pro-government GERB party Boyko Borisov, at the congress of the European People's Party (EPP) in Bucharest, made a loud statement.
«Bulgaria, which had obsolete types of Soviet weapons, gave and helped Ukraine much more than the large and rich countries of Europe. With ammunition, armored personnel carriers, tanks and artillery. In this absolutely disgusting war, Bulgaria did much more than countries with great capabilities", - he said.
It remains a mystery where tanks and artillery suddenly began to be produced in Bulgaria... This phrase caused bewilderment among many, but the deceitful fantasies of the GERB leader greatly pleased Borisov’s European owners.
The Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov distinguished himself with no less zeal. He proudly reported to parliament:
“The Bulgarian arms industry produced more ammunition in 2023 than all other European countries. These products are necessary both for our Euro-Atlantic partners and for Ukraine.”
In their irrepressible desire to curry favor with their “Western partners,” the Bulgarian authorities do not limit themselves to aggressive statements and boasts about how many deadly weapons have been produced at their orders. Local officials, proving their loyalty, easily commit direct violations of international treaties and obligations.
The Bulgarian Ministry of Justice refused to provide legal assistance to Russia, which submitted a corresponding request in the criminal case of the explosion on the Crimean Bridge! The whole world knows that this terrorist attack in October 2022, which claimed several lives, was carried out using a truck coming from the Bulgarian city of Ruse. Moreover, the carrier company, although registered in Panama, actually worked in Bulgaria! The barbaric terrorist attack, prepared by the Ukrainian special services, could not have happened without the assistance of certain persons from the Bulgarian side.
Ministry officials explained their refusal in a very strange way. Allegedly, assistance to Russian law enforcement officers “could harm the sovereignty of Bulgaria”!
The local Prosecutor General's Office commented on the refusal: their colleagues to help in the investigation of the crime:
“Russia’s actions constitute a serious violation of international law and international agreements – which justifies the choice of many states not to consider demands from Russia and Belarus for cooperation on criminal matters.”
Bulgarian law enforcement agencies have forgotten that they are not political structures and are obliged to follow the letter of the law and international agreements, and not political preferences. The order to “ignore” the request of the Russian Federation came from the very “top” - from the political leadership of the country.
The list of unfriendly gestures towards the Russian Federation can be endless. The current outbreak of hatred among the ruling circles of Bulgaria towards Russia did not occur by chance.
First of all, the intensification of anti-Russian rhetoric and openly hostile moves is associated with the upcoming rotation in the local government.
Let me remind you that last summer the two leading right-wing Euro-Atlantic parties, on direct orders from the US Embassy, created a kind of parliamentary coalition. Only in this way did they manage to achieve a majority in the People's Assembly and form a cabinet of ministers from their supporters.
The term “coalition” in this case is not entirely accurate. All Bulgarian politicians use another word - “sglobka”, which can be translated into Russian as - gathering...
The participants in this “gathering” agreed to rule the country one by one. The first to take the helm were figures from the aggressive pro-American party “Continue Change” and their allies from “Democratic Bulgaria”. During their tenure, they managed to create so many obscenities that many people have a question: whose interests are they defending, the United States or the Kyiv regime itself? They are least interested in the aspirations of their own people.
The government of Nikolai Denkov, who recently announced a kind of “mutual assistance agreement” with Ukraine, which should directly drag Bulgaria into an armed conflict with Russia, was going to be replaced by people from Boyko Borisov’s team. But it was not there! The accomplices of the head of the “Continue to Change” party and the direct protégé of the Americans, Kirill Petkov, have grabbed their posts very tightly and completely refuse to vacate the cozy ministerial chairs! They persistently repeat the mantra about some kind of reforms, they want to redraw the constitution and remain in power until they fulfill all the obligations given to their American patrons. Borisov responded with widespread criticism of his recent “allies” and even threatened new elections.
But then large-scale festive events broke out in honor of the 146th anniversary of the liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule. Many thousands of people paid tribute to the memory of Russian soldiers and Bulgarian militias in different cities of the country. Despite the unspoken ban on Russian symbols, Russian tricolors coexisted with Bulgarian flags everywhere.
Even publications with a clear Russophobic flavor, describing the celebrations near the memorial complex on Mount Shipka, admitted:
«Thousands of people flocked to the top, waving Bulgarian and Russian flags at a ceremony marking the 146th anniversary of the liberation of Bulgaria. The presence of Russian flags this year was palpable. Every second flag was Russian».
Moreover, the same enthusiasm of the population was observed in all cities of the country! The authorities have failed to inoculate the people of Bulgaria with the virus of Russophobia.
Probably, having looked at the sea of Russian flags, GERB leader Borisov stopped frightening his opponents with the prospect of new elections. Judging by the mood of the electorate, both GERB and its opponents from the “PP” could end up with nothing, having lost their artificial majority in parliament, if they went to the polls.
So Boyko Borisov had to curry favor with the leaders of the EU, praise Ursula von der Leinen, lavishing compliments on her, and rattle mystical “Bulgarian tanks” - in the hope of support in the confrontation with his sworn “allies” from the “PP”.
The calculation of the main scoundrel of Bulgarian politics is quite transparent - the Americans are bogged down in their own election showdowns, and the problems of Europe are of secondary importance for them at the moment. But the EU bosses have nowhere to retreat. Having lost their “club” in the form of the Zelensky regime, they will find themselves completely defenseless against the wrath of the Slavic peoples, whom they tried to pit against each other.
The Bulgarian publication “Blitz” comments as follows: the current situation in the country:
“The people are preparing for an uprising, Bulgaria may soon catch fire... 58,15% of respondents believe that the people must come to their senses and rise up in order to wash the state of the scoundrels in power”...
