Bulgarian “brothers” are again harming Russian gas projects
Bulgaria is again disrupting the construction of the Balkan Stream gas pipeline (an overland branch of the Turkish Stream) in the direction of Serbia.
The Russian Bulgaria portal writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Bulgartransgaz said that the contractor, the Saudi consortium Arkad, had prepared only a third of the gas pipeline - 103 kilometers - for laying in trenches. Therefore, he may not have time to build another 200 km to the Serbian border before June 1.
Let us remind you that June 1 is already the second date for the launch of the gas pipeline. Initially, it was supposed to be launched on January 1, but due to litigation between participants in the construction competition, its start was delayed by six months.
At the same time, Serbia has fully completed the construction of the Balkan Stream and is ready to accept Russian gas. She expects that gas transit will make it possible to recoup the investment in 10-12 years.
A number of experts suggested that Bulgaria deliberately sabotaged the project under the influence of the United States, which is lobbying for an alternative to the Turkish Stream, the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) from the Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field. Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, threatened that Gazprom could change the route of the gas pipeline if sabotage on the Bulgarian side continues.
