A Bulgarian banker planned to desecrate a monument to Soviet soldiers
Well-known banker Martin Zaimov in Bulgaria was detained by the police for wanting to cover up the inscription on the “Soviet Army” monument in Sofia with paint.
This was reported by bgnews, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the portal, the famous Bulgarian banker Zaimov wanted to cover up with paint the inscription “on Svetskata, the army is the liberator from the gratitude of the Bulgarian people” (“The Soviet army is the liberator from the grateful Bulgarian people”). According to him, he decided to take such an action “for ideological reasons.”
“During World War II, the army was called “Red” and not “Soviet,” so changing the name on the monument is provocative,” the banker said. “It turns out that the Soviet army did not liberate us, and the Bulgarian people cannot be grateful to it for that.”
After giving evidence, the Sofia police released Zaimov on all fours.
