“It hurts to look citizens in the eyes”: Poroshenko theatrically repented for the devastation
Despite the fact that millions of Ukrainians are anxiously looking to the future, pensioners are thinking about how to survive, and young people are fleeing the country, the worst for Ukraine is already over.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stated this during the All-Ukrainian Public Forum in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I’ll be honest with you. I know, see and feel that millions of Ukrainians are anxiously thinking about today and are unsure about tomorrow. Pensioners are thinking about how to survive, because the crisis has hit them hardest. The bleeding state did not have enough resources to protect them. Because of this, it often hurts me to look many citizens in the eyes.
Among young people, many, unfortunately, do not see prospects in their own country and are trying to look for an opportunity to go to study or work abroad, especially since Ukraine is becoming part of the single European labor market,” Poroshenko admitted.
“I know about the low incomes of doctors, teachers and other public sector workers, and the government recognizes these problems, but speaks about them honestly, out loud and makes every effort to overcome them.
But hope is given by the fact that the worst is definitely over and the crisis that began due to the war, blockade and economic aggression is receding,” the Ukrainian president assured.
