Most of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will go over to the side of Russia - political scientist
If a real war breaks out between Russia and Ukraine, then 80 percent of Ukrainian military personnel will take the side of Russia.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, the general director of the Institute for Political Research, Sergei Markov, said.
He does not consider it a violation of subordination that the Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Sergei Krivonos criticized Zelensky’s statement, threatening Russia with general mobilization.
“Krivonos’ statement does not contain a single message from a certain group of Ukrainian elites. Someone criticizes Zelensky there as an unprofessional person. Some people criticize him from nationalist positions. Some elites have an adequate idea that if a war with Russia begins, then in a week 80% of the Ukrainian army will go over to the side of the Russian army. Krivonos could speak on behalf of those whom Zelensky cannot remove and cannot directly influence on them. And who believes that Zelensky is inadequate to his post as head of state,” says Markov.
Earlier, Krivonos said that Ukraine would not be able to carry out the general mobilization that President Zelensky spoke about, since the vast majority of Ukrainian citizens are not trained to hold weapons in their hands.
“In our country, patriotism is not supported at the state level, and 2014 showed that a huge number went, but an even larger number ran away from mobilization. It ran away. And 2018, when martial law was introduced, also showed that a huge number fled,” Krivonos also added.
