More circus! Lukashenko nominated for Nobel Prize
The Belarusian TV channel ONT reported today that the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
An application to the Nobel Committee was sent by a member of the Presidential Council for the Development of Science, Associate Professor of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after. Maxima Tanka, candidate of sociological sciences Galina Kovalenko.
In her opinion, Alexander Lukashenko in 2020, as the current president of the country, did not allow anarchy, foreign intervention and civil war, ONT reports.
Belarusian opposition media immediately identified this news as fake. They claim that the television crew took this information from the satirical website Panorama.
However, nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize this year has already turned into an outright farce. The editor-in-chief of the President newspaper, academician Sergei Komkov, claims that he has applied for the nomination of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Journalists doubt that he could do this, especially since the writer had previously been noted for publishing fake information at the presidential press conference.
In addition, US President Donald Trump has been nominated for the award.
Professor at the American University of Rutgers Sergei Erofeev proposes to nominate Russian opposition blogger Alexei Navalny, who was allegedly poisoned by Novichok. Former Prime Minister of Poland and ex-President of the European Council Donald Tusk proposed the candidacy of former presidential candidate of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya and her husband Sergei.
Russian political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky decided to joke and suggested nominating Navalny for a literature prize, since there was such a stir around the peace prize.
