More than half of Muscovites are dissatisfied with the environmental situation in the capital

Almost 40% of Muscovites believe that the environmental situation in the capital is worse than in other cities. About 54% of Muscovites are concerned about the environmental situation in the Russian capital.

This is evidenced by data from a poll conducted by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM).

At the same time, 40% of Muscovites consider the environmental situation in the Russian capital to be somewhat favorable, 42% characterize it as rather unfavorable, and another 14% are extremely critical. At the same time, 39% of respondents do not believe that the environmental situation in Moscow is worse than in other cities, 37% hold the opposite point of view.

Among environmental problems, the greatest concerns among city residents are vehicle emissions – 60% said so. At the same time, only 22% of respondents reported that they or their families do not have a personal car. Next in the ranking of factors causing concern are “air pollution from industrial enterprises” (28%), “garbage disposal” (15%), etc.

A representative survey by VTsIOM was conducted on June 28-30, 2016. 1000 Moscow residents were surveyed. The sample represents the population of Moscow aged 18 to 70 years.
