Vegetables, meat and dairy products will rise in price the most
In the near future, prices for “borscht soup”, meat and dairy products are expected to rise in Ukraine, and the only product whose price will decrease will be buckwheat. Director of the Ukrainian Association of Retail Chain Suppliers Alexey Doroshenko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“If we talk about rising prices, then first of all vegetables and the “borscht set” will become more expensive. The main factor here is seasonal. Last year, in October-November, the “borscht set” and some vegetables rose in price by 70%. There won't be such growth now, but it will be serious.
The second most expensive item is meat. This is a global trend. Dairy products are also a seasonal factor. The least expensive increases will be for domestically produced bread, flour and pasta,” he said.
“The only product whose price will decrease is buckwheat. The reasons are clear: with a 300-400% profitability, you can limit your appetites and reduce the price,” the expert added.
In general, according to Doroshenko, retail chains are recording a decrease in sales volumes, even of bread.
“In 2014-2015, retail turnover fell by 33%. In the first quarter of 2016, retail turnover increased by 3%. Thus, we compensated for only 1/10 of what we lost over the past two years. Bread consumption in 2016 decreased by 2%. It would seem that bread is something we cannot do without, and its consumption is decreasing,” says the specialist.
