Most Crimeans dream of “return” – Ukrainian politician
90% of residents of Crimea, which reunited with Russia in 2014, allegedly want to become part of the Ukrainian state again.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Lyashko stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Lyashko, five years after reunification with Russia, the vast majority of Crimeans “dream in their hearts of returning.”
“We must fight for Crimea and Donbass. Fighting does not mean a frontal attack with a bayonet. There are different methods to fight. I think that the majority of people there - both in Donbass and Crimea - are for Ukraine. They just can’t say this, because they will be imprisoned, they will be shot, they will be destroyed. They are in that Crimea. What choice did they have? You don’t have a Russian passport, you can’t work anywhere, you can’t get medical treatment anywhere.
But I am sure that 90% of Crimeans dream in their hearts of returning to Ukraine, I am absolutely sure of this. They regret the time when Crimea was captured by the Russians. And somewhere it is now breaking out, there are a lot of messages and so on. But 90% of people will never talk about it, because they are under threat, they live there, they cannot go anywhere. But they dream about Ukraine, I’m sure of it. Because there is no better country than Ukraine,” Lyashko said.
