According to the data received, 61% of respondents support Russian President Vladimir Putin, about a third - 31% - said that their attitude towards the head of state has improved, among those who believe that the federal authorities want to solve the problems of the Crimean Tatars (and there are about half of them), 86% assess the situation in Crimea as generally positive. Also, up to 70% of Crimean Tatars have successfully adapted to life in Russia.

“I would like to emphasize that the situation in Crimea among the Crimean Tatar population is very difficult and we are not inclined to idealize it, but we are working to ensure that people feel real changes for the better,” Igor Barinov, head of the FADN, commented on the situation to Izvestia.

Respondents also note an improvement in their socio-economic situation. 75% of Crimean Tatars are to one degree or another satisfied with their current life, 48% declare a stable financial situation, and 30% have noticed an improvement in their lives.

In the three years after Crimea became part of Russia, 46% of Crimean Tatars began to feel themselves citizens of the Russian Federation, while only 7% of respondents consider themselves citizens of Ukraine. At the same time, 43% are convinced that the United States and EU countries acted wrongly by not recognizing Crimea’s entry into Russia.

61% did not support Ukraine’s policy towards Crimea, and only 13% of respondents supported Kyiv. At the same time, only 2% of respondents count on help from the Ukrainian authorities.

“One of the factors of negative attitude towards Ukraine was the food and energy blockade organized by Ukrainian politicians,” explained Igor Barinov. “71% perceived it negatively, of which 45% are sure that Ukraine in this way wanted to make things worse for Russia, harming the Crimean Tatars.”

The political activity of the population also increased: if from 17 to 24% of the Crimean Tatar population participated in the referendum on Crimea’s entry into Russia, then 42% voted in the elections to the State Duma of the seventh convocation.

The sociological study was conducted in 64 settlements of 12 municipal districts and nine urban districts of Crimea. 1 thousand respondents from among the Crimean Tatars were interviewed; they answered the questionnaire in both Russian and in their native language.

As PolitNavigator reported, Crimean Tatars refuse to move to Ukraine.
