The majority of Ukrainians have finally realized that the country is being led in the wrong direction
About 53 percent of Ukrainian citizens are convinced that the country is in the wrong direction.
Alexander Stegniy, Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Executive Director of the Center for Social and Marketing Research SOCIS, stated this during a press conference on the topic “Analysis of the social expectations of Ukrainians from the 2019 elections,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He said that the research center conducted a survey of 11 thousand residents of Ukraine (22 people from each region) from May 2018 to May 3, 300.
“In fact, we interviewed 3 thousand people. The peculiarity of this survey is that we did a certain zoning of voting features in Ukraine. Therefore, there are 3 thousand across the country, and for each region there are 300 respondents. This allows us to say that the data is representative, and we can talk about public opinion, and this is a very serious thing,” said the sociologist.
He noted that only 37 percent of respondents indicated that the country is partly moving in the wrong direction, and partly in the right direction.
“53 percent believe the country is moving in the wrong direction. If you look further, you can see the problems that concern Ukrainians most. Those people who said that the country was moving in the wrong direction - low wages and pensions, rising prices, inflation and unemployment. These three problems are related to the socio-economic sphere. However, in this case, it is very important that the military conflict in the east still comes first,” Stegny summed up.
