In Germany and Austria, the majority is in favor of improving relations with Russia. Austrian writer Hannes Hofbauer stated this today at a press conference in Moscow, presenting his book “Russia: Image of the Enemy. The story of one demonization."

“In the German-speaking area (in Austria this is the majority) they want better relations with Russia. If a referendum were held in Austria now, the majority would be in favor of lifting the sanctions. This is not only due to political positions. Economics also plays a very important role here,” said Hofbauer.

According to him, his book is addressed to ordinary citizens, not politicians, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The media and many politicians look at Russia critically and even hostilely, but business and citizens do not understand this and are committed to good relations with Russia. I wrote my book for them,” Hofbauer said.
