“Starting today, the majority of prisoners in Lukyanovskaya prison have gone on a hunger strike to protest against poor conditions of detention. Lack of food, medicine, etc.,” Korchinsky wrote on Facebook.

Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko also spent some time in the Lukyanovsky pre-trial detention center after being taken into custody. Her comrades held actions outside the prison walls in support of Yulia.

At the same time, the then opposition television channels showed a revealing film about the inhumane conditions of detention in the Lukyanovka pre-trial detention center, where the walls were infected with a fungus that causes fatal diseases.
