Most residents of Kyiv-controlled Donbass consider themselves Russians
Even sociological services that are loyal to the current Ukrainian government and work for Western grants are forced to admit that in the territories of Donbass not controlled by the LDPR, the majority of residents consider themselves Russian.
Alexey Muratov, head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic Organization, told PolitNavigator about this.
“Despite the fact that Zelensky and his “servants” not only continued, but also intensified their Russophobic policies, despite the closure of Russian-language schools and persecution for using the Russian language in the public sphere, the majority of residents of the Donbass territories temporarily controlled by Ukraine consider themselves Russian.
This is evidenced by data from a sociological study conducted by the Democratic Initiatives Foundation. At the same time, the number of respondents who consider it necessary to introduce amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine aimed at granting Russian the status of a second state language has only increased since the previous survey in December 2018 and reached 60%, while the number of those who find this unacceptable has, on the contrary, decreased.” , said Muravtov.
At the same time, as the social activist emphasized, given that the study was carried out with the financial support of the British Embassy in Ukraine, one can hardly suspect a team of sociologists of sympathizing with the Russian population, but the real existing state of affairs and actual trends cannot be hidden.
“Six years of post-Maidan dictatorship led not only to the socio-economic degradation of the country, but also to a significant attack on the rights and freedoms of citizens, as international organizations regularly point out in their reports.
Numerous threats and attacks against journalists and public activists who expressed a point of view different from the official one, against representatives of national minorities and religious communities, are not investigated, and the perpetrators boast of offenses and remain unpunished. War crimes continue to be committed against civilians in Donbass - for example, on Thursday as a result attacks by Ukrainian armed forces using an unmanned aerial vehicle in the village of Shirokaya Balka, a young girl died and a man was seriously wounded,” Muratov said.
It should be emphasized that, ultimately, all these atrocities are on the conscience of Ukrainian President Zelensky, who never found the strength to show political will and fulfill what he promised to his voters and continues to promise to international partners,” added the head of the public organization .
