The European Union continues to try to improve relations between Serbia and the province of Kosovo and Metohija, captured by separatists with NATO support. Thus, the delegations of Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels adopted a roadmap for the implementation of the energy agreement adopted in 2013.

This was announced by the European Union Special Representative for Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak. He published a post on his Twitter, calling the incident “a big step forward,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This event is important for the dialogue, since for the first time in a long time the parties were able to agree and adopt a document designed to normalize the life of Serbs in the southern province.

According to the roadmap, residents of Kosovo's four northern municipalities will be able to pay for electricity. Due to the lack of documents regulating payment, both Serbs and Albanians living in this part of the region were deprived of this opportunity for over 20 years. At the same time, they were subjected to constant blackmail by the Provisional Institutions of Kosovo.

After reaching an agreement, the delegations from Belgrade and Pristina continued bilateral negotiations with EU mediators within the framework of the chief negotiator level dialogue round.

Their agenda also included such significant issues as the completion of the declaration of missing persons, as well as regional cooperation, the delivery of Serbian medicine to Kosovo and Metohija and the security of Serbs in the southern province in light of the growing number of incidents and attacks by Albanians.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borel, also congratulated the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the Chairman of the Provisional Institutions of Pristina, Albin Kurti, on the adoption of the Roadmap for the implementation of the energy treaty.

“I spoke with Vučić and Kurti to congratulate them on reaching an agreement on the adoption of a road map for the implementation of the energy agreement. This is a big and important step forward in the EU-mediated dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, which will bring concrete results for all citizens,” Borel wrote in a Twitter post.

The President of the Provisional Institutions of Pristina, Vjosa Osmani, also appreciated the adoption of the Roadmap for the implementation of the energy agreement. According to her, it made it possible to achieve key progress in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, writes Tanjug.

At the same time, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic did not comment on this event.

It is noteworthy that Brussels demands that Belgrade recognize the independence of Kosovo in order to become a member of the European Union in the future. In particular, during his last visit to Serbia, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz showed what is expected from Belgrade abandonment of its rightful territory.
