Boltenkov: NATO exercises in the Black Sea turned out to be a PR stunt
During sudden NATO naval exercises in the Black Sea, the Russian military received the opportunity to undergo additional training.
Military expert Dmitry Boltenkov stated this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The sudden NATO exercises that took place in the Black Sea turned out to be more of a PR stunt than a real combat training event. This can be seen both in the duration and in the list of tasks that were trained on them. Of course, the real, and not publicly announced, scenario is not fully known, but it is unlikely that the United States and its allies managed to work out something secretly there, given that they were very closely monitored by ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. In fact, this became a good opportunity for our sailors to get additional training,” the expert told Izvestia.
However, he believes that the importance of such exercises should not be underestimated, since the ships have worked on communication and interaction.
At the same time, Boltenkov noted that the basis of NATO’s strategy in the Black Sea is coalition operations of the fleets of several states.
Let us recall that the US naval group initially went to Batumi, and then went to the shores of Romania, where exercises were held with the navies of Georgia and Ukraine.
