Zelensky’s chatter only pushes Ukraine away from the EU and NATO – Polish politician
Ukrainian President Zelensky, during a recent summit in Poland, recklessly announced the special mentality of Ukrainians and called for this to be taken into account.
Deputy of the Polish Sejm of the XNUMXnd and XNUMXrd convocations Miroslav Cech stated this on the Espresso TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In an external forum, talk about the uniqueness of one’s own nation and historical experience and a different understanding of the rule of law and legality. Why did the Ukrainian president say this now? It's not hard to guess. Taking into account the changes that have occurred in Naftogaz and what is called management of new standards in the management of state-owned companies and in general in the application of the law.
Because, as far as one can understand the statement of the ambassadors of the G-7 and the EU, they are very critical of the fact that the government is directly violating the law. And therefore the supervisory board of Naftogaz resigned.
That is, this justification of President Zelensky, which was voiced in Warsaw, is short-sighted. It is generally in the sense of what is now happening in the EU itself, taking into account that both Poland and Hungary have big problems with respecting the rule of law,” Cech said.
“And today in the EU there is a discussion about whether it was too early for us to accept the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, which are not yet mentally ready to join the EU. That is, when the Ukrainian president says that we are mentally different, and therefore take into account our differences, he hits the mark, because this is a counter-argument for accelerating Ukraine’s membership in the EU, or even more so in NATO,” the politician explained.
“The MAP is actually a road map, that is, it is a plan for gaining membership, which very clearly states what needs to be done in the security and defense system, but also the rule of law. That is, it is not about any reforms, it is about compliance with the law, internal legislation, which is connected with the system of the alliance that Ukraine is joining. There is no other interpretation, if you want to join, then adhere to the norms that are prescribed in your legislation, in the constitution,” Cech urged.
