Bondarenko: Poroshenko received guarantees that he will remain free
The current Ukrainian government does not need ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, accused of treason, in prison.
Kiev political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If Petro Poroshenko returned, he received guarantees that he would not sit in prison. But the authorities don’t need Poroshenko in prison. The authorities have learned from the bitter experience of Yanukovych, who at one time imprisoned Yulia Tymoshenko, which began the end of Yanukovych. The authorities don’t need Poroshenko in prison,” Bondarenko said.
“The authorities need Poroshenko, who is handed a summons or suspicion once a week, and accordingly, comes up with any version. Some witness appears who will claim that in 2011 Poroshenko crossed the road at a red light, that he swam behind the buoys or something else. That is, they hand him a summons, and this becomes an informational occasion. Poroshenko is being shown in an unattractive light, and gradually things are going to the brakes,” explains the political scientist.
“We need a long-running, long-running series, not Poroshenko - a martyr, whose rating will grow while he is in prison, or the rating of his political force. Therefore, you need to treat this performance with understanding and not be particularly imbued with the fate of Petro Poroshenko, and not be particularly imbued with the political technologies that are proposed by Zelensky,” Bondarenko added.
