The government was forced to ask the UN General Assembly in 2008 to create an International Commission against Impunity to silence anti-corruption activists. The commission consisted of a group of investigators who were allowed to collect information in any way and were given the broadest powers, as well as two prosecutors who presented charges in court.
Today it is known that the names of Petro Poroshenko, Yulia Tymoshenko and other parliamentarians and officials appear in the so-called “Panama Papers”, indicating the transfer of huge amounts of money to offshore companies. And to implement the Guatemalan experience, the approval of the president and parliament is required. It is unlikely that they will chop the branch on which they are sitting.
