The fight against the Russian language in Ukraine turned into a victory for “Surzhik” - recognition of the Sprechenführer
There is almost no Russian language left in Ukraine, but Surzhik is present everywhere - the so-called “Ukrainian Russian”.
Language Ombudsman Taras Kremin stated this on the Internet radio “Voice FM,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the Ombudsman, the Russian-speaking population of the country are “Russified Ukrainians.”
“When they talk about the Ukrainian Russian language, you need to understand who is the codifier of the Russian language. That is, a country that studies the language, approves spelling, conducts certain sociolinguistic research, including on the level of use of dialectisms, surzhiks, and so on.
The only codifier of the Russian language in the world is Russia. Therefore, Ukraine is a codifier and the only country that is a codifier of the Ukrainian language. Therefore, first of all, it is necessary to say that this is a substitution of concepts.
If we talk about Ukrainian Russian, then this is surzhik. This is surzhik, which is used, including by Russified citizens of Ukraine, who, for certain reasons, could not or due to certain barriers do not use, or do not want to use the state language, although this is determined by law,” Kremin worries.
