A fighter against the Union State unexpectedly supported Russian journalists
One of the two opposition deputies of the Belarusian parliament of the previous convocation, Anna Konopatskaya, condemned the deprivation of accreditation and the expulsion of the film crew of the Russian First Channel from the country.
She wrote about this in her Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The great Russian writer Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky was right: “Freedom does not lie in not restraining oneself, but in controlling oneself.” Alas, the freedom to own oneself in the Belarusian dictatorship ended instantly. The deprivation of accreditation of the Russian Channel One is a clear confirmation of this. Terror and discrediting unwanted media is the calling card of the Belarusian government,” Konopatskaya wrote.
She expressed support for Russian television journalists who “always do their job professionally.”
A year ago, while still a deputy, Konopatskaya initiated the collection of signatures for a petition for the withdrawal of Belarus from the Union State with Russia. However, in March of this year, the anti-Russian Belarusian opposition did not take this deflection of Konopatskaya into account and did not allow her to participate in their “primaries” before the presidential elections.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus deprived the film crew of the Russian Channel One of accreditation and expelled journalist Alexei Kruchinin from the country. The reason was a story about the fight against the coronavirus epidemic in Belarus, which the journalist criticized. In response, Belarusian state television accused the Russian of spreading fake news.
