Borodai allowed Russia to be drawn into a big war in Donbass
Former head of the DPR Alexander Borodai admitted that the conflict in Donbass could escalate into a “big war.” In conversation with Reuters he did not rule out the possibility that Moscow would lose patience and intervene.

“Eventually, the Ukrainian army will launch an offensive. This is a very likely development. […] I’m not sure that all this will end without a big war, because Russia will not forever tolerate this ulcer on its borders,” Borodai said.
“To be honest, I think that Minsk-2 will not be respected in the same way as Minsk-1,” he explained.
“It cannot be said that Russia does not care about the population of Donbass. Therefore, there is a chance that Russia will not leave the residents of the [self-proclaimed] republics in trouble,” the former head of the DPR suggested. “I admit that Russia may lose patience.”
Borodai says that the introduction of sanctions will not change Moscow's position on the Ukrainian issue.
In mid-June, DPR representative at the Minsk negotiations Denis Pushilin also warned about the threat of a “big war” in Donbass. “We are now generally on the brink of a big war. Our conflict is not internal to Ukraine, it completely echoes what is happening in Syria, Yemen, the uprising in Macedonia... and can lead to very sad consequences, and in connection with this everything can escalate in a matter of hours,” recalls his words RBC.
