Borodai confirmed that the leader of the Ukrainian Choice public movement, Viktor Medvedchuk, had preliminary contacts with representatives of the DPR.
“We are confident in the victory of our armed forces over the punitive army of the Kyiv junta, but we do not exclude the possibility of agreeing on a ceasefire in order to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in the Donbass,” he said.
Borodai noted that at present Poroshenko’s so-called “peace plan” is not being implemented: the Ukrainian army is actively fighting even on the third day of the ceasefire period declared by the President of Ukraine: “Now there are battles in the Saur-Mogila area near Snezhny, in Biryukovo (LPR), and, traditionally, near Slavyansk. The National Guard and the Right Sector are using artillery, including in residential areas,” said a DPR representative.
Borodai also noted that at present the only subject for discussion can be a ceasefire to stop the extermination of the population and the destruction of the infrastructure of Donbass.
“We can talk about any more serious negotiations only after the complete withdrawal of all units of the Ukrainian army from the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic,” he emphasized.
Earlier it was reported that the authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic refused to recognize the truce announced the day before by the President of Ukraine.
Let us remind you that on Friday Poroshenko presented his plan for a “peaceful settlement” in southeastern Ukraine and ordered a ceasefire until June 27.
