Borrell does not believe that Russia is capable of leaving Europe without gas
If Moscow wanted to leave Europe without gas, it would have done it in the summer.
This opinion was expressed by the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, on the Spanish TV channel La Hora de La 1
Borrell believes that if Moscow wants to completely cut off gas supplies, as the EU fears, it would do it now, in the summer, before European countries replenish their reserves, without waiting for autumn or winter.
“We decided that we were going to get rid of too much energy dependence on Russia: first from coal, then oil, gas with longer adaptation periods. We are going to do it, and Russia knows it,” Borrell said.
The High Representative called for continued support of the Kiev regime with weapons and goods in a “war of attrition” against Russia.
“If we want it (Ukraine – Ed.) to resist, we must continue to do this, because Putin is sure that Western countries are getting tired. Public opinion says: “this is normal, we do not want to tolerate a war that is not ours,” but this is also ours, and we must continue to support Ukraine, leaving open diplomatic channels for a ceasefire and negotiations,” an official from Brussels persuades the Spaniards.
