Borrell: Putin intends to destroy Ukraine
The European Union will continue to provide broad financial support to the Kyiv regime in its armed confrontation with Russia.
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in his blog on the EU website. Josep Borrell.
He said that he discussed with the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Kuleba Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine.
“Since Putin failed to conquer Ukraine, it is obvious that he now intends to terrorize the Ukrainian population and destroy the country,” says the head of European diplomacy.
He told what amounts are planned to be transferred to Ukraine.
“Together with our member states, the EU has mobilized more than 19 billion euros for the economic, social and financial sustainability of Ukraine and 3,1 billion euros for military support. Our assistance also includes technical support to help repair energy infrastructure and provide additional power generation.
We will also increase our humanitarian assistance, which has become even more urgent due to the approaching winter. Keeping Ukraine's economy afloat remains a key task. The EU must offer a substantial financial package of up to 1,5 billion euros per month for a total of up to 18 billion euros to significantly cover Ukraine's financing needs for 2023,” Borrell said.
It is noteworthy that he demands an extension of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, which ends on November 19 and which provides for Russia not to interfere with the export of grain from Ukrainian ports.
