“This problem with the preservation of Ukraine can only be solved by declaring neutrality or non-bloc status. Only by excluding ourselves from this situation can we solve this problem.

We are too big a country. If we become part of Russia, we critically strengthen Russia. If we become part of the West, we critically strengthen the West. We are that card or that weight, relatively speaking, that immediately radically changes the geopolitical alignment on these scales.

That's why we can't go anywhere. As soon as they try to put us in one basket, on the other side they shout: “No, no, let’s chop off a little for ourselves so that we can distribute them equally. Give us half or a third.” And this is a historical divide - we have been divided many times because of this.

And the fact that we don’t go anywhere entirely, we radically change the geopolitical balance. And if we do not want to be divided again, and we have already been mentally divided, we need to say: “Guys, we are not playing this game, we are not going either to the east or to the west, we are going inside ourselves. We will be self-sufficient."

And this means that we can economically integrate with the West, we want to have access to Russian markets, but we will not join any military blocs, we do not intend to. We are not a threat to anyone. Only the one who attacks us will deal with our Armed Forces, with our people. That's all we have to do.

God forbid we have a real chance of joining NATO, for us this means war, a full-fledged war,” Bortnik said.
