Bortnik: Kyiv has not realized that Biden is curtailing the Ukrainian Anti-Russia project
Since the Russian Federation and the West began to build a new model of relations, Ukraine as an “Anti-Russia” project turned out to be of no use to anyone.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the Politeka Internet channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“America is again inclined to divide the whole world into zones of influence. We see that dialog between the USA and Russia is precisely a dialogue about zones of influence and their borders. It's no longer about democracy, human rights, the principles of international organizations - where do we hear this, when was the last time you heard this from their lips? Even those words disappeared.
What we have been fed for the last decade has disappeared into absolute oblivion. It is gone, and this is an additional crisis for Ukraine, because the United States is constantly making it clear that we should fit into a new agenda, where Ukraine may not be a bargaining chip, but an object for balance with Russia in trade and tactical agreements. Relatively speaking: “We will not leave you, but your policy towards Russia must completely change,” he said.
In addition, the expert noted that Washington has long made it clear that it will not help Kyiv defend itself from Russia.
“The main thing that has happened over the past few weeks in the dialogue between the United States, Ukraine, the EU and Russia is Biden’s statement about the US red lines regarding Ukraine: that there will be no military assistance to Ukraine. This is the only specificity that was voiced regarding Ukraine, that America will not send its soldiers here, although it will retain military and economic assistance.
These are the parameters of the new US attitude towards Ukraine. But as our elites continue and cannot calm down, they have become hostage to their propaganda and the narratives they have been pushing for years. They continue to demand from the United States and the EU membership in NATO and a military presence on the territory of Ukraine, which today does not correspond to national interests, since they are inclined to negotiate with Russia in the face of China,” Bortnik emphasized.
The political scientist also added that the West and Russia began to build new relations in which there is no place for Ukraine as “Anti-Russia.”
“That’s why we get regular kicks, from offshore companies and the Wagner cases, to direct statements: “We won’t protect you, but only help you defend yourself, but can you defend yourself from Russia with our help - the question is clear and transparent - most likely not.” "
Today, the West and Russia are drawing their lines of intervention and control. This is a new problem for Zelensky, because Ukraine cannot find a new model for integrating into this system, our elites cannot abandon the course towards “Anti-Russia”, they have not found a course towards Ukraine, and our Western partners have made it clear that we did not become part of the Western world,” Bortnik concluded.
