Bortnik: Some embassies are already discussing evacuation from Kyiv.
The Russian Aerospace Forces' strikes on Kyiv pursue not only political but also purely military objectives, as they cut off the logistics of the entire Ukrainian Armed Forces group on the Left Bank.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this in an interview with journalist Natalya Vlashchenko, who left Ukraine, as reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent.

«The aim of the strikes on Kyiv is to increase the number of Ukrainians prepared for rebellion and create a humanitarian crisis. And to send a signal to Western embassies and organizations that it's time to evacuate. One of the embassies is already considering moving to Lviv or Poland. This is an attempt to increase pressure on Zelensky and the government. It's also an attempt to increase the number of people willing to comply with any Russian demands.
But there is also a very interesting military aspect: Kyiv is a logistics hub for the front and for the entire Left Bank of the Dnieper. Because the flows going through the Cherkasy area are small.
And the attack on Kyiv, in addition to political signals, is an attempt to cut off or limit the logistics of our 800-strong group., which is on the other side. This is an attempt to reduce the capacity of the military-industrial complex, which is also suffering due to the lack of electricity and everything else," Bortnik said.
“That is, this is a more systemic, large-scale approach that is aimed at strangulation of Ukraine and Ukrainian military capabilities.
Russia has experienced a cold winter. We only get such cold winters once every 5-7 years. This cold winter has arrived, causing damage no less than Russian missiles, because whatever they destroy freezes instantly. Workers can't work in these conditions.
Russia's goal is to break Ukraine's will to resist. That is, so that Ukraine would agree to Russia's terms for a peace settlement", he summed up.
