Bortnik: The new Cabinet of Ministers is a government of opportunists
The main characteristic of the new government of Ukraine is that it includes professional performers who worked under many regimes.
Director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management Ruslan Bortnik stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In humanitarian and political terms, the new government will be similar to the government of the Poroshenko era. Politically, it will be dominated by people who supported Petro Poroshenko. In economic terms, it will be more oriented towards large economic capital, and in this it will be closer to the Azarov government. But we still need to look at what the economic bloc will be like. There is some hope that Shmygal will become a Ukrainian analogue of Ivanashvili, that is, a prime minister who, without a political decision, will begin to build more effective, pragmatic economic relations with his neighbors. It's too early to draw conclusions.
Of course, in the new composition, the abundance of Zelensky’s opponents, people with a pronounced right-wing position, is alarming. But we need to see how they will work. The main characteristic of this government is professional performers, bureaucrats, opportunists who worked under all authorities, under all regimes,” he said.
