Bortnik: Zelensky’s “platform for communication with Donbass” is harmful and flawed
Kiev's attempt replace negotiations with the LDPR with a dialogue with residents of Donbass who fled to Ukraine is discrimination against some Ukrainian citizens and will lead to a negative result.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik said this on the YouTube channel “First Cossack,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The “platform for communication with Donbass” initiative, which consists mainly of people who left, is a very dubious initiative.
It’s the same if the president came out and said: “I will communicate only with representatives of “Freedom” or “European Solidarity”, only they are citizens for me.”
You need to understand that one party left Donbass, that is, people who, due to their views, could no longer stay there, these are political and humanitarian refugees. Those people who left simply because of fear of war will not go to the political platform to communicate. And those who went to communicate left because of their political views.
And the effectiveness of communication with these people, in terms of reintegration for modern Donetsk and Lugansk, is not only doubtful, but perhaps even negative...
This, unfortunately, is an imitation of the necessary dialogue. On these platforms there should be people who have at least some authority in those territories, people who are somehow heard there, at least someone agrees to communicate with them,” the expert believes.
According to Ruslan Bortnik, Kyiv must take into account the opinion of all refugees from Donbass, regardless of which state they currently live in.
“We also need to take into account the position, including that of temporarily displaced persons. Or, if we are to form such a platform from temporarily displaced persons, we need to form it one third at a time - a third of representatives of IDPs who live in Ukraine, a third who left for Russia, they are also temporarily displaced persons with their own views. And a third - who went to other countries - around the world, in Europe.
Why is the opinion of only those who live in Ukraine and have unambiguous political views, which are largely unacceptable for Donbass, taken into account,” the expert was indignant.
