The Bosniak elite was angry with Serbia for its liberal attitude towards fellow tribesmen from Bosnia during the pandemic
The largest Bosniak Democratic Action Party (SDA) called Serbia’s decision to allow Bosnian tribesmen into the country without a PCR test “discriminatory and malicious.”
The Sarajevo political elite called on the country's Council of Ministers to introduce retaliatory measures, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The SDA considered discrimination to include “different treatment of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina depending on the administrative unit in which they reside.”
The fact is that Serbia requires a negative PCR test from residents of the Federation (Bosniak-Croatian) BiH, otherwise they will not be allowed into Serbia. In turn, residents of the second entity of BiH, the Republika Srpska, do not need to take any tests to enter Serbia.
“Although Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic often says that he “respects Bosnia and Herzegovina,” it is clear that his words do not correspond to his actions,” the party’s statement said. – We call on the Council of Ministers of BiH to decide on the introduction of retaliatory measures for entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina for citizens of each country separately, including neighboring countries, in accordance with the rules they apply to citizens of our country.
Such a response will be fully justified, given that the situation with the number of coronavirus infections in Bosnia and Herzegovina over the past few weeks is much more favorable than in the region as a whole.”
At the same time, which is typical, Serbia imposes the same requirements on the inhabitants of the BiH Federation as on foreigners, without discriminating against them in any way. At the same time, Belgrade is moving towards its fellow tribesmen from the Republika Srpska not of their own free will - as a result of the collapse of Yugoslavia, they remained outside the Serbian state.
