Bosnia and Herzegovina is entangled in gas pipelines and transit countries
Bosnia and Herzegovina is provided with gas for only six months.
The gas supply agreement with Gazprom was extended by state companies Energoinvest and BH-Gas until June 30 of this year, reports the Avaz news portal.
Previously, Bosnia and Herzegovina always signed a contract for a year, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
However, until now the gas transit route has passed through Ukraine and Hungary. But now Russia has completed the construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline and supplies are flowing through it.
However, Bosnia and Herzegovina has an agreement with Hungary until 2023. This may create some problems. BH-Gas administration is conducting intensive negotiations with the Hungarians to fulfill the transportation contract.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Erdogan promised to support the connection of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Turkish Stream.
The overland branch of this gas pipeline, Balkan Stream, should pass through Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary and Austria. Bosnia could also join it.
At the moment, Serbia has fully completed the construction of the Balkan Stream, and Bulgaria is missing the deadline, but promises to complete construction by May 2020.
