It’s impossible to drag Bosnia into NATO
A political crisis is growing in Bosnia and Herzegovina, acutely manifested after the Serbs refused to appoint a new prime minister of the country. As a result, the country has been living without executive and legislative power for 10 months.
The main candidate for this post is the current Minister of Finance of the Republika Srpska Zoran Tegeltija.
The problem is that two of the three members of the presidium, representing the three main nations (Serbs, Bosniaks and Croats), set the country's accession to NATO as the main condition for appointing a prime minister.
Serbian representative Milorad Dodik believes that the problem of forming a government lies in the interference of foreign states in the politics of BiH, which creates an unhealthy atmosphere, as a result of which the country demonstrates its inability to function as a state, as reported by the Bosnian news agency Radio and Television of the Republika Srpska.
According to Dodik, the Dayton constitution of the country, which was developed with the mediation of the United States, cannot solve the inconsistency of government and the incomparability of the national interests of the titular peoples of the republic.
He also once again spoke out against following his country's path to NATO. According to him, Republika Srpska, part of BiH, will not discuss membership in the North Atlantic Alliance, since its civilian population was also bombed by alliance aircraft in the wars in the Balkans. The politician also noted that the country is obliged to maintain military neutrality.
“The fact is that in the Republika Srpska more than 5000 people suffer from malignant diseases every year, which exceeds the average for the region and the world in terms of population. This suggests that NATO’s target on our territory was not only soldiers, but also civilians and future generations,” Dodik told Alternative Television.
To support his words, he recalled that German and Italian soldiers who used depleted uranium ammunition in the Balkan wars ended up suffering from malignant neoplasms, and that is why their families sought justice in the courts.
